What is Freedom?

Jack woke up to the sound of crying and shouting, a normal occurrence in the household he lived in at the moment. Sitting up he waited for the young girl he lived with to run into his room like she did every morning.

Seconds later a young blond haired girl dashed into his room with tears streaming down her face. Jack just sighed and opened his arms for her as she climbed into his bed and hugged him.

"WE CAN'T AFFORD TO CARE FOR THE KIDS ANYMORE!" they heard a male voice shout from the living room.

"BUT THEY'LL DIE IF WE GET RID OF THEM! YOU KNOW WHAT THE GOVERNMENT DOES TO FOSTER CHILDREN AFTER THEY GET MOVED OUT OF FIVE HOUSES! THIS IS THE FIFTH AND FINAL ONE FOR THEM!" a female voice shouted back, and he could hear a faint hitch her breath suggesting that she was about to start crying.

He understood why they fought, in this day and age the government made it impossible to make any money unless you worked for them, and he also understood the woman's reluctance to give them up. Once you've gone through five homes the government would take you away and turn you into one of their dogs, but just because he understood the reason for their fighting doesn't mean he enjoyed it.

Once the yelling toned down he sent the small girl to her room to get ready for school and he got dressed as well.

When he walked out he saw a small breakfast of toast waiting for him on the table. Sighing he ate it as he double checked if he had everything. His 'parents' already left for work leaving him to drop his foster sister off at school.

"Ready Lily?" He asked the young girl when she came down stairs in her usual purple dress with a mint green sash around the middle.

She nodded and together they walked out of the house and to her school. Once he dropped her off he walked the half mile to his school and got there just as the bell rung.

Rushing inside to avoid another detention, he just barely made it to his class room before the teacher.

Sitting down in his chair he waited for the teacher to start the morning lesson and stared out of the window absentmindedly.

Startled out if his thoughts by his teacher's loud voice, really how could such a small lady talk so loudly he wonder idly, he heard ber announce that they would be receiving two new students and that they would be here any moment.

After she finished hushed whispers started up around the room, it's been awhile since they've gotten new students, never mind the fact that it was the middle of the year.

Soon enough two males walking in, the shorter one of the two had ash grey hair and shockingly golden eyes, the taller had midnight black hair and equally shocking green eyes, both had a strong, yet skinny build and they looked well off, their parents must work for the government Jack thought to himself.

"Hey, my name's Noah, and this is my best friend Kai." The gray haired one spoke up with a smile.

"Does anyone have any questions for Kai and Noah?" The teacher asked.

A few of the kids immediately raised their hands and Kai picked a scrawny brown haired kid, Jonathan was his name if Jack remembered correctly.

"Do your parents work for the government?" He asked and immediately it seemed as if the temperature of the room dropped a few degrees as Noah's and Kai's expression darkened for a split second before the smiles where back, though they seemed forced this time Jack noted.

"No, our parents are bankers at the international bank." Noah said told him. Jonathan nodded, content with the answer he got.

After a few more questions the teacher, Mrs. Garcia Jack's mind corrected, told the new kids to sit next to him as she started with the lesson. Jack's mind how ever was far from what ever she was teaching, Kai and Noah were hiding something, and he was going to find out what.
